Andy and his prior firm were hired by a couple from western Nebraska who had tragically lost their 14 year-old daughter in a car accident. She had been driving a car after two older boys let her drive as they had been drinking. The car was owned by one of the boy’s parents.

Her parents had difficulty in finding an attorney that would help them because the law at that time did not allow a claim for negligent entrustment if the person did not own the car. Andy took this case, and after appealing the case to the Nebraska Supreme Court and establishing new law, was able to provide a substantial recovery for his clients.

In a 2013, Andy was appointed to represent a Native American who was charged with felony terroristic threats in federal court.

From his first meeting with his client, Andy knew the case would proceed to trial. He was first able to get his client released from custody. He then began to work on the case, reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and developing a theme for trial.

After the trial was concluded, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty in less than fifteen minutes. For that case, Andy was awarded the Jury Trial of the Year award from the Federal Public Defender’s Office.

Recently, a client who lived near Grand Island, NE, contacted Andy about a motorcycle accident he was in. Sadly, his wife who was driving her own motorcycle, was killed in this accident.

Many lawyers would not take this case believing that he and his late wife were at fault. Andy took this case and after visiting the accident scene, hiring expert witnesses, taking various depositions, and conducting thorough discovery, was able to obtain a significant settlement favorable to his client.
